Por segundo año consecutivo, cuatro jóvenes de distintos países europeos [Lituania, Letonia, Bulgaria e Italia], nos han ayudado en la organización de ABYCINE. Forman parte de la Acción 2 del Programa Juventud en Acción, Servicio Voluntario Europeo, y una vez finalizado su proyecto les hemos pedido que nos cuenten su experiencia.

Why EVS? Why Spain? Why Abycine?  And finally: do you know something about Feria?

EVS: because it is the best way to get new experience, to know other language, culture and people.

Spain. It is sunny, beautiful country with incredible people and songful language.

Abycine. It is the best way to see the newest and the most interesting non-commercial movies. Also you can get skills how to organize festivals of films. And of course you can have a chance to work with open, friendly, creative team.

Feria!!! It would be stupid to tell you about this 10 days event. You need to feel it, to survive it and to be real "albaceteño".

So, enjoy all advantages, which you will get: work, trips, parties, friends... And after EVS you will say: it was one of the best days in my life.

 

[Si eliges estre proyecto, debes prepararte para contestar estas preguntas: ¿Por qué SVE? ¿Por qué España? ¿Por qué Abycine? Y finalmente: ¿qué sabes de feria?
SVE: porque es la mejor manera de tener una nueva experiencia, conocer otro idioma, otra cultura y otras personas.
España. Es soleada, un país maravilloso con gente increíble y un idioma muy sonoro.
Abycine. Es la mejor manera de ver las películas no comerciales más actuales y más intereasantes. También conocerás cómo se organiza un festival de cine. Y por supuesto tienes la oportunidad de trabajar con un equipo abierto, amable y creativo.
Feria!!! Sería imposible explicarte acerca de este evento que dura 10 días. Necesitas sentirlo, sobrevivir a él y convertirte en un "albaceteño" de verdad.
Así que, disfruta todas las ventajas que tendrás: trabajo, viajes, fiesta, amigos...y después del SVE dirás: han sido los mejores días de mi vida.]

Creo que ha sido una gran experiencia para mi, a través de la cual he podido conocer la nueva cultura, tradiciones, el mundo de cine y una manera impresionante de vivir.
Echamos una mano al equipo de Abycine y asimismo, a través de diferentes actividades, ampliamos nuestras experiencias en diferentes ámbitos. Teníamos que ayudar con la difusión de la información sobre el festival, así como participar en su organización, realizando varios trabajos. Creo que Albacete es un buen lugar para desarrollar el festival, ya que la gente es muy amable y el ambiente de la ciudad es bastante acogedor. Ese proyecto es una de las mejores oportunidades para los jóvenes! No os aconsejaría perderla!

[In my opinion, it has been a great experience towards I have been able to know a new culture, traditions, world of cinema and an impressive way of living. We help the Abycine team and then, through different activities, we spread our experiences in different fields. We had to help with the distribution of the information about the film festival as well as participate in its organisation doing some different works. I think that Albacete is a nice place to develop the festival because people is so nice and the environment is warm enough. This project is one of the best opportunities to the young people! I would advise not to miss it!]

My First Abycine Experince (and definitely not my last)

When I applied and was approved for the Abycine Film Festival EVS project, I knew nothing about the city of Albacete. To be honest I was a bit skeptical. Being a boy from the "big" city I was used with dynamic way of live and was worried that I can get bored. But I have to admit I was surprised by the active live I got over there. Right away I found easy going and socially active people (and by that I mean a very good night life as well). They were in my job, my friends and on the streets.

Another thing I wasn't realizing when arriving was that I will be in the heart Castilla La Mancha. As this was my second time in Spain after a month in Barcelona I can definitely say that this was the place where I got to know the real Spain. No more intercultural mix - the raw "manchego" culture was exactly what I was looking for and exactly what I needed. I assume this is the reason why I enjoyed my time there so much.

During the festival I was able to get to know what it is like to organize a film festival. I was able to communicate with interesting and open minded people. My participation was in different areas with all sorts of activities which were never boring. Nevertheless I had the chance to enjoy the famous Feria that lasts between 7 and 10 days (of 24 hours non stop party).

A friend from Albacete once told me "People come to Albacete crying and they leave it crying". Even after his explanation: When they come, they cry because they feel like going to exile and they leave crying because they don't want to leave.

I wasn't sure what he meant. It wasn't until my very last days when I realized he was right.

So if you are wondering if you should apply for a volunteer programme or you are an artist that considers visiting the festival, wonder no more.

I can only say "Thanks for the positive vibe..."

[Mi primera experiencia Abycine, y evidentemente no mi última.
Cuando solicité el proyecto de SVE del Festival de Abycine y fue aprobado, no sabía nada sobre la ciudad de Albacete. Para ser sinceros, era bastante escéptico. Soy un chico de la "gran" ciudad y estaba acostumbrado a un modo de vida dinámico por lo que estaba preocupado por si podía aburrirme. Pero tengo que admitir que me sorpendí de la vida activa que tuve. De hecho encontré gente amable y sociable (y en esto incluyo una buena vida nocturna también]. La encontré en mi trabajo, en mis amigos y en la calle.
Otra cosa de la que no me había dado cuenta hasta que llegué es que estaba en el corazón de Castilla La Mancha. Era mi segunda vez en España, tras pasar un mes en Barcelona, y puedo decir sin duda que fue en este lugar donde descubrí la verdadera España. No más mezcla intercultural - la cultura manchega pura era lo que estaba buscando y lo que necesitaba. Esta es la razón por la que tanto disfruté de mi estancia aquí.
Durante el festival pude aprender cómo se organiza un festival de cine. Pude relacionarme con gente interesante y abierta. Mi participación fue en diferentes apartados con diferentes actividades con las que nunca me aburrí. Además, tuve la oportunidad de disfrutar de la famosa feria que dura entre 7 y 10 días [de 24 horas de fiesta sin parar].
Un amigo de Albacete me dijo una vez "La gente viene a Albacete llorando y la dejan llorando". Incluso tras la explicación [Cuando vienen lloran porque se sienten como en el exilio y la abandonan llorando porque no quieren irse] no me quedo muy claro lo que quería decir...hasta mis últimos días aquí cuando me di cuenta que tenía razón.
Asi que si te estás planteando si deberías solicitar el SVE o eres un artista que está pensándose ir al festival, no te lo pienses más.Sólo puedo decir "Gracias por las vibraciones positivas..."]
